Organized by CCFEI and PCI Acrylonitrile Ltd, and with support from China Chemical Fiber Association, China National Chemical Fiber Corp and China Wool Textile Association, 6th China International Acrylonitrile & Acrylic Fiber Forum was held during 25-27 Feb 2009, in Tongmao Hotel, Shanghai. The conference was attended by more than 120 representatives from renowned enterprises home and abroad, and speeches were given by senior officials from leading players including Thai Acrylic Fibre, PCI Acrylonitrile Ltd, Jinshan Associated Trading Corporation, LG Yongxing Chemical, Shandong Polymer Bio-Chemicals, Jilin Chemical Group, Sinopec, etc., focusing on widely concerned issues such as market perspective, demand/supply balance, demand changes, China acrylic fiber industry during economic downturn, demand in Asian market in 2008, etc.

During the conference great concern was attached to influence from macroeconomic environment, and opinions were changed on global economy outlook, performance of chemical fiber industry, crude oil tendency and market future. Development of carbon fibers was also a high light.

By changing ideas and distributing opinions, participants came to the consensus that the acrylonitrile prices firmed on tightened supply while ABS and acrylamide prices were pushed up by firming feedstock, while tight spot supply also supported ABS prices. They also came to the conclusion that it's due to downstream yarn mills back to operation from Chinese New Year that sales went smooth recently, and prices may retrace down soon since there was hardly any substantial improve in demand. Most experts agreed that prices may remain stable in 2009, while many Chinese acrylonitrile and acrylic fiber producers indicated that they will try to maintain stable price level by output control.
