Organized by CCFEI and Tecnon Orbichem, and with support from China Chemical Fiber Association and China National Chemical Fiber Corp, the 6th China International Polyamide & Intermediates Forum was held during 3-5 Dec 2008, in Rainbow Hotel, Shanghai. The conference was attended by more than 200 representatives from renowned enterprises home and abroad, including Capro, Sumitomo, LANXESS Deutschland, Honeywell, DOMO, KuibyshevAzot, DSM Nanjin, Shenma Group, Shijiazhuang Chemical Fiber, Baling Petrochemical, Xinghui Meida, Zhejiang Hongfa, Yiwu Huading, Cixi Jinlun, Zhangjiagang Junma...etc. Tricon Energy is the sponsor.

During the conference, Charles Fryer, Board Chairman of Tecnon OrbiChem, gave introduction on demand/supply status quo and perspective of global polyamide 6 and polyamide 66 intermediates market, and Zhu Boliang, President of CCFEI, gave report on Reasons for Recent Market Decline, arguing that with regard to market in 2009, focus should be laid on players’ interest in investment and consuming, exchange rate of USD and RMB, and macroeconomic policies in China. Representatives from BASF, Shenma Group, Solutia, Sinochem Plastics Company and Baling Petrochemical also gave speech on status quo of polyamide chain, investment in polyamide industry and development of nylon engineering plastics, etc.

By changing ideas and distributing opinions, participants came to the consensus that the slowdown of polyamide industry would hamper development of nylon engineering plastics, while investment may shrink of economic recession. They also agreed that polyamide 66 prices would stay high with strong cost support. Participants also discussed possible caprolactam tariff cut in 2009.
