Wu Xuemei, the Vice President of China Sulphuric Acid Industry Association, introduces the production, sales and plant operation of China’s sulphuric acid industry in 2013, when China’s sulphuric acid output just grew by 2.9% year-on-year to 86.5 million tons, indicating the end of rapid-growth era. Facing an oversupplied domestic market, Ms Wu expresses her concerns over China’s sulphuric acid import, and proposes new coping strategies.

Dr Crystal Chiang, the Asia Director of PCI Nylon, starts with the topic on caprolactam industry, a key downstream sector to sulphuric acid. She thinks that imports of ammonium sulfate from the key agricultural countries in Asia will rise further, while CPL industry will also benefit from the utilization of ammonium sulfate, the by-product of sulphuric acid, in promoting their margins.

As a world famous consulting company, Ed Barlow, the Country Manager – China of TZMI, comes up with his analysis and prediction on the upgrade of global titanium dioxide industry and fresh demand for sulphur and sulphuric acid, as titanium dioxide industry has always been a key demander for sulphur and sulphuric acid. He thinks that titanium dioxide capacity will increase by 1.2 million tons per year in 2013-2018, with a CAGR at 8%.
