In 2014, chemical fiber output grew slower globally on the backdrop of slower economic growth and poor demand. Where is chemical fiber market heading toward in the coming decade? Roger Lee, Managing Director of Tecnon OrbiChem, as the first speaker of the morning session, contributes a detailed analysis on capacity growth trend of polyester, cotton, acrylic and other fibers.

With China embracing New Normal of economic development, what is waiting for us? Hu Xiaopeng, Senior Engineer of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences makes analysis on China’s economic development during past five years, by comparing the new normal of the US, Japan and China, and points out special characteristics of the new normal in China. He also refers to problems of debt and deflation of China, and provides his solutions.

After the coffee break, Chen Daojiang from Sinopec Shanghai Sales Company presents speech titled Acrylic fiber industry review and outlook. In his speech, Mr. Chen reviews acrylic fiber industry in 2014 based on fundemental and price trend. He also refers to acrylonitrile industry, pointing out that acrylonitrile import will shrink, with upgrading price competition. Given high acrylonitrile cost and sluggish demand, acrylin fiber industry had suffered heavyloss in 2014, while there are signs for market to recover in 2015.

Yongkyu Choi from Taekwang Industrial Co., Ltd. Introduces gives an introduction of Taekwang’s businesses, and presents an overview of acrylonitrile market in South Korea, as well as outlook for Asian market. He believes that though acrylonitrile demand from ABS & acrylamide will increase steadily, there will be fewer cargoes entering China and Asia, due to fast expanding acrylonitrile capacity in China.

Huang Youcheng, from Sales Center of Jilin Petrochemical talks about problems brought by increasing acrylonitrile availability. Mr. Huang reviewed market fundamental and price trend in acrylonitrile market in 2014, and points out the severe situation facing the industry. He suggests that producers lower costs, enhance innovation, reach regional balance and support downstream sectors.

Li Xiongyou, Deputy Director of Qilu Petrochemical’s Acrylic Fibre Plant refers to problems facing China’s acrylic fiber plants and upgrading of the industry. Mr. Li review changes in the industry pattern in recent three years, and provides his solution to address difficulties facing domestic chemical fiber producers in their progress of product innovation. Finally he introduces recent R&D practices of Qilu.

Lv Min, General Manager of Shandong Runxing introduces adiponitrile industry from the aspects of the role of adiponitrile industry, production process and capacity distribution. He also talks about Runxing’s ACN-based AND process, including technologies, cost and equipment, and upstream and downstream perspective. He indicates that the construction of 100 kt/yr adiponitrile project is underway at Shandong Runxing

Zhang Chuanxian from China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation influence on acrylonitrile demand from China ABS market. Mr. Zhang introduces function and applications of ABS, as well as status quo of ABS market. He forecasts that in China, there is still some room for the growth of ABS production, and ABS industry will still be a good outlet for acrylonitrile.
