Fu Wenjing, Director of Development Department, China Chemical Fibers Association, shares some Thoughts about sustainable development of acrylic fiber industry in the 13th Five-Year Plan period. She introduces the backdrop of 13th Five-Year Plan, difficulties we may meet during implicating the plan, and lists tasks in order to achieve sustainable development of the industry.

James Mills, Business Manager, Acrylonitrile & Derivatives, Tecnon OrbiChem Ltd. brings an overview on global acrilonitrile market. Basing analysis on abundant industry data, Mr. Mills points out that the industry will see consistent overcapacity with depressed margin, taking what happened to polyester and adipic acid as example. He also indicates that growth in downstream sectors is also less optimistic in spite of new demand for ABS resins in 3D printing

After coffee break, Professor Lv Yonggen from Donghua University introduces the progress of industrialization of carbon fibers domestic and overseas, as well as production in plants of mainland China. His speech involves factors influencing stability of carbon fiber production, and also R&D of higher carbon fiber function. He also contributes advices for producers in R&D.

Against the backdrop of slumping crude oil value and sluggish bulk stock market in H2 2014, Pan Zeng’en, Senior Analyst of China Industrial Futures Limited presents the speech Crude oil to rebound slightly with supply/demand conflict eased. According to Mr. Pan, while fundamental remains less optimistic, there are also positive factors such as recovering economy in the US, growing crude oil demand, better performance of EU Zone economy, and China’s economy going stable.

Cao Caijuan, Professional Analyst of China Chemical & Fiber Economic Information Network (CCFEI) concluded the session with Impact on derivatives from changes in acrylonitrile fundamental. She presents an overall review on acrylic fiber and acrylonitrile market in 2014, and predicts that increasing domestic acrylonitrile capacity will encourage competition in feedstock market, and thus reduce cost pressure on acrylic fiber producers. Meanwhile, China will be less dependent of imported acrylonitrile.
