Frédéric VAN HOUTE, Director General of European Man-made Fibres Association (CIRFS) again comes with the idea of sustainable development, suggesting challenges and opportunities facing polyester industry.

Zhang Yuhang, Senior Engineer of China Kunlun Contracting & Engineering Corporation brings the speech titled Polyester Production: Energy Consumption Analysis and Energy Saving Measures. Mr. Zhang focuses on energy consumption of polyester unit and energy-saving adaption. The status-owned CKCEC had long been engaged in R&D of specialized technologies and equipments for continuous-polymerizing engineering projects, melt transportation and distribution, large PTA projects, and waste water processing, making great contribution for chemical fiber industry of our country.

Luo Hongjing, Deputy Director of CNPC Economics & Technology Research Institute talks about development pattern of global aromatic polyester industry. According to Ms. Luo, the capacity surplus will still exist for a certain period in aromatic polyester industry, with the elimination of outdated capacities speeding up, and the market may briefly achieve balance by the year of 2020. Hereinto, the polyester fiber sector will restore fast, as it is closest to the terminal, with wide consumption fields. She also predicts that the pattern of China’s economic growth will gradually change. China will lose edge from cheap labor force, with the change of population structure subtly influencing demand. The industrial development will pay more attention to innovation, and the improvement of efficiency.The tracking study on consumer structure and consumption power should be concerned and promoted, so as to adjust industrial structure and product research orientation in advance.

Shi Guanghua from Jinrui Futures gives a report about PTA market tendency in H2 2016, particularly in Jul, based on politic and economic issues taking place in first half of the year, as well as complicated situation facing PTA market in H2.

The last speech of the second day session comes from Zhao Cheng, Deputy Manager of Information Dept, CCFEI. In her speech, Mr. Zhao makes a summary of new characters of polyester raw material market in H1 2016, including lower demand growth, changes of polyester chain structure and Imp. & Exp. markets. She warns about possibility of demand overdraw in H1, and gives analysis on impact from G20 in H2 of the year.
