In the first-day sessions, we will have 11 speeches in the first day, with six in the morning, and five in the afternoon.

Wallace Weng, Deputy General Manager, China Chemical & Fiber Economic Information Network (CCFEI) is the Chairman of morning session, and Zhu Boliang, General Manager of CCFEI presents the opening speech.

Date 12.1 12.2

The first speech of the day comes from Deng Jun, Secretary General of Nylon Committee, China Chemical Fibers Association. Mr. Deng talks about Strategies to Facilitate R&D and Application of New Nylon Products, referring to expanding capacity and shrinking profit of the industry, and shares some advices on nylon industry transformation and innovation against the backdrop of supply-side reformation.

Caprolactam Market Outlook

Following is Huang Wei from Fiber Raw Material Dept of Sinopec Chemical Commercial Holding. Focusing on caprolactam fundamental changes and market perspective, she believes there is huge potentiality with nylon consumption, and market may begin to shake off the burden of oversupply in 2019.

Date 12.1 12.2

Song Manjun, Marketing & Logistics Director of Fujian Shenyuan New Materials discusses China Role in a Changing Road. In his speech, he points out that China is achieving self-sufficient of caprolactam with improving quality, gaining strong influence to Asia and global on pricing and trade flow. He also mentions that global PA6 growth is mainly from fiber, while China dominates spin PA6 market, with more export of high quality. Though EP and film applications have quality gap, as he mentions, more Chinese players are stepping in.
Date 12.1 12.2

After the coffee break, Qiu Jianjun, Deputy GM of Marketing Purchasing Center, Zhejiang Hengyi Petrochemical presents the speech titled Perspective of High-end Nylon Market, focusing on nylon market perspective, challenges, industry trends and Hengyi’s projects.

Date 12.1 12.2

Dr. Liu Xiucai, President & CEO of Cathay Industrial Biotech Ltd talks about Bio-based Polyamide R&D and Commercialization Process, with detailed introduction of Bio-active Nylon, Terry® Applications in Textile, and Commercialization of Bio-based Polyamide.

Date 12.1 12.2

Charles Fryer, Chairman, Tecnon Orbichem presents a speech about Overcapacity Builds Along the Supply Chain of nylon industry, pointing out that massive caprolactam capacity additions in China have created over-capacity and reduced cash margins to zero or negative, and world caprolactam industry was thereby pushed into oversupply. The fall in crude oil prices has helped the competitivity of polyamide versus polyester and other fibres, but this will reverse if crude oil prices rise. Profitability of caprolactam production is related to the tightness of the supply-demand balance.  Growing new capacity means a continuing squeeze on profits. Though caprolactam producers are trying to protect themselves by integrating downstream into PA6 production, more effort is needed.

Date 12.1 12.2

The afternoon session begins with He Zhuosheng, General Manager of Guangdong Xinhui Meida Nylon as the chairman

Date 12.1 12.2

Xue Bin, Professorate Senior Engineer ofSinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber introduces Performance and Application of YilonTM Fiber. Polyamidester is expected to become the 29th kind of fiber listed in the national standards as it is now applying to be recognized as a new chemical substance in China. Polyamidester Staple Fiber has the feature of soft touch, anti-pilling, and moisture-absorbing.

Date 12.1 12.2

Christian Elenz, Process Engineer of UHDE INVENTA-FISCHER brings a report titled Facing the Future of Polyamide 6 Technology with Plant and Product Versatility, covering UIF Polycondensation Technologies, Polyamide 6 Technology, Re-Polymerization Technology OMDP® and Revamping & Versatile Plant Concepts.

Date 12.1 12.2

Jiang Zhenhua, Product Manager of CCFEI describes poor upstream performance, slow end-user demand growth in his speech titled Challenges for China Nylon-6 Industry. He attributes lower nylon prices, shrinking margin and low operating rates to fast domestic capacity expansion. Though oversupply will continue to weigh on the industry, as he believes, the industry may improve somewhat in 2017.

Date 12.1 12.2

After the coffee break, Qu Zhenlin, Director of Sales Dept., UBE Shanghai, contributes his speech of Innovative Application Development of Polyamide Engineering Plastics. According to Mr. Qu, in the past 20 years the demand of PA had increased by 5-6% per year, and Polyamide Resin such as PA6, 66, 12 and relevant Copolymer (6/66,6/12) are well applied in Automotive and Packaging industries, with more expansion expected.

Date 12.1 12.2

The last speech for the first day session comes from D. Pulikeshi, Chief Consultant & Director of Pulikeshi & Associates. In his speech focusing on Developments in Polyamide Tyrecord Industry, Mr. Pulikeshi refers to growing popularity of Cross Ply & Raidal Tyre in developing countries, accompanied with shrinking demand for nylon 6 cord fabric. He also mentions heavy shrinking of cord fabric margin in the past 15 years in China, while PA66 for cap-ply application is growing in line with Passenger Car tyre growth. Though PA66 is earning better margin than PA6, with new capacities coming up in China he believes that in the coming years nylon 66 will also see shrinking margin, while nylon 6 cord fabric will face challenge in non-tyre territories from polyester materials.
